Big 12 Tournament: Day 2 Spread

Welcome to conference tournament season. It’s March, which means two things: basketball and gambling. Here’s your guide for today’s Big 12 action, starting at 11:30 AM on ESPN 2. (RIP OU basketball)

Record: 1-1 (I hate you, TCU)

Iowa State vs. Baylor (ISU -2.5)

This is a bit of a toss up as both teams have been phenomenal this season, have their resumes pretty set and are about on the same level. I would go Iowa State here as they have a winning pedigree in Kansas City recently and will have the Sprint Center decked out in cardinal and gold. Iowa State, -2.5

TCU vs. Kansas State (K-State -4.0)

THERE ARE NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE HOW AWFUL TCU’S MELTDOWN WAS YESTERDAY. Seriously, I’m still fuming. Up 21 on the worst team in the Big 12 and you blow it and don’t cover in a must win game? Inexcusable. Give me Kansas State big here. Four points should be easy money. Kansas State, -4

West Virginia vs. Texas Tech (Tech -12.5)

As predicted on yesterday’s blog, the Mountaineers upset OU after Christian James had a foot on the line on what would have been the game tying three. West Virginia is a better team than you’d think, but there is no way they get past Tech. However, I’m going to ride with them and predict a cover. West Virginia, +12.5

Texas vs. Kansas (KU -2.5)

The old grey mare, she ain’t what she used to be. Neither are the Jayhawks. While Kansas City is a practical home location for Kansas, Texas is hungrier and more desperate to get into the Big Dance. I think they take out KU in an upset here. Texas, +2.5
